Child Seat Safety Education and Inspections now offered at HPD

Chief Richardson and PSW Taylor are now Certfied Child Passenger Safety Technicians.  You can now book appointments to have your carseats properly installed and inspected at the Hodgenville Police Department. To do this, Please visit the "appointments" tab and book an appointment today!

 

When booking an appointment, please include # of car seats that will need to be inspected, your car's make, model, and year, and the manufacturere and model of the car seat(s). This will allow your appointment to go as quick and as smooth as possible.

Check out these Key Statistics: 

  1.  On average, three children are killed and an estimated 487 are injured every day in the U.S. in traffic crashes.
  2.  When the driver is buckled, children are restrained 92% of the time.
  3. When the driver is unbuckled, children are restrained about 68% of the time.
  4. Car seats decrease the risk of a fatal injury by 71% among infants, and 54% among toddlers.
  5. Booster seats reduce the risk of nonfatal injuries by 45% among four- to eight-yearold children when compared to the seat belt alone.
  6. Car seats and booster seats are often used incorrectly. One study found that almost 46% of observed car seats and booster seats were misused. Misuse increases risk of injury or death.
  7. In 2017, it is estimated that 325 children under age five were saved because of restraint use. Over the period of 1975 through 2017, 11,606 lives of children under age five have been saved because of child restraint use.
