On Thursday, April 6th, HPD in conjunction with the Lincoln Trail Health Department hosted an impaired driving demonstration and a vape education presentation to roughly 300 Juniors and Seniors. HPD brought the Simulated Impaired Driving Experience (SIDNE) Cart in order to let the students get a small sense of the dangers of impaired and distracted driving via a new perspective by being able to drive the cart using multiple forms of impairment goggles. Drunk driving is a significant issue in many communities, causing devastating accidents and more than 11,000 fatalities in the United States in 2020 alone.

The overall verbal feed back that we received from student and staff was well -received and we had a good amount of participation. In the coming weeks, we will be conducting a satisfaction survey and we at HPD hope to continue these presentations in the coming years!

We look forward to continuing this training and have a plan to do a similar training for Project graduation.
